The first Legacy powerboats were launched in the early 1990’s by sailboat builder Freedom Yachts. These Mark Ellis designs embraced traditional styling, coupled with carefully crafted hull designs that offered great sea keeping abilities, good handling and low speed planing for superior fuel efficiencies. United with Freedom as the builder, long recognized for their innovation and build quality, a new breed of practical and well-built traditional motor yacht was launched.

Fast forward to today….Tartan’s high tech composites, renowned hand crafted interiors and commitment to delivering great performing yachts is being applied to the new line of Legacy by Tartan. Tartan engineers have pioneered and perfected the use of advanced composite lamination technology. The Legacy line is fit with the best components and engines available in the industry. This combination provides Legacy with hulls and decks of uncompromised strength, intelligent weight savings, and years of reliable performance and low maintenance, but it’s the elegant hand crafted woodwork that really stands out. Tartan’s well deserved heritage of building some of the finest interiors in the industry take Legacy to a new level.

The 32 and 42 continue the design relationship with Mark Ellis, and are excellent examples of the same guiding principle that has guided Tartan sailboat design for over 50 years. Wholesome, traditional and timeless designs that exhibit superior handling and performance.

Legacy 32

Made to Move. Designed to Perform.

One look at the engine room of the Legacy 32 and you’ll understand a lot about how Tartan builds the next generation of Legacy. Every fitting, every system, every installation is well thought out and carefully executed with the best equipment available. Little things like heat shrink, waterproof electrical connectors for a safer and more reliable electrical system. And big things, like an efficient and durable electronic Cummins diesel.

Look inside the Legacy 32 to discover a very embracing interior that begins with a bridge deck that’s just waiting to host friends and family with two long settees with room to spare. The helm and co-pilot seats are cleverly configured so that they can be raised or lowered to form two functions, in the lower position they extend the settee length for more seating or making the settees sleeping length bunks.

Legacy 36

The hull design uses a modified deep V hull with wide chine flats and centerline flats extending aft to produce a sea kindly hull that gets up on plane at low speeds. This combination has proven its ability to deliver a yacht with great performance and handling characteristics along with excellent fuel efficiency.

The underwater configuration includes a running keel/skeg combination that offers superior tracking and great protection for the prop and the skeg hung rudder. Forward, the V’d entry allows the 36 to handle the toughest conditions, while keeping the ride dry and stable.

The helm deck salon and interior showcase Tartan’s renowned craftsmanship. Available in several configurations; galley down with two large helm deck salon settees or galley up with a choice of a below deck “L” shaped settee or a second private sleeping cabin, all are executed to perfection in varnished cherry and Sapelle. The aft end of the helm deck is enclosed with dramatically curved plexi glass panels, and Sapelle framed sliding door. The helmsman and navigator are pampered with secure and comfortable, Ultraleather adjustable captain’s pedestal chairs.
